I'd buy it in a second since I love my current one so much as my wife needs a pack.  Unfortunately, it will not fit me or my wife.  We both have 23" torsos.  Marmot now owns Dana Designs and generally just put their name on the old Dana Designs packs.  If Marmot stuck with the same sizes as Dana Designs used, this pack will fit an 18-20" torso.

Specifications
Weight:   Small - 7 lb 8 oz
   Medium - 7 lb 12 oz
   Large - 8 lb
   Extra Large - 8 lb 4 oz
Capacity:   Small - 6760 cu in
   Medium - 7000 cu in
   Large - 7250 cu in
Extra Large - 7540 cu in
Fits Torso Length:   Small - 16 - 18 in
   Medium - 18 - 20 in
   Large - 20 - 22 in
   Extra Large - 22 + in

The original packs, made by Dana Design in Bozeman went out of business. Dana had some financial difficulty, and ended up selling. The new owners took manufacturing to Mexico, and that killed the brand. Then Marmot took over the packs basically. Not sure where they are being made now. You can bet whatever Marmot has is no where near as good as a 'Real Dana'.

Dana made my backpack special for me when I got it. He was down here in San Antonio visiting a family friends backpacking shop (Chism's Pack & Sports) and discussing designs he was contemplating. At the time there were no Danas with black webbing, and I asked him if I could have an Astralplane with everything except the logo in black. He said as a matter of fact the US Navy SEALs had requested the same thing, and he would just add another one to the build and ship it down to me. So that's my pack story. Dana Design Astroplane Overkill in all black with red Dana Designs logo. I bought my Dana back in 1993?? Maybe even 1992. It's the best backpack I have ever owned. I went through a Gregory and it was a decent pack, but didn't stand up to the wear and tear like the Dana. (The Dana looks brand new when cleaned. It has been to numerous big bend trips, and hundreds of lost maples and enchanted rock trips over the years). My overkill Dana is made of 1000 denier cordura throughout, and double 1000 in the sleeping bag section. It's damn stout.

www.mysteryranch.co m will have the only pack I'll set next to my DD astralplane. They have an overkill pack designed VERY close to my current pack in design and size.. The Kodiak.

Landcruiser4Life,
only 1 day left and the bidding is only at $170.
Tempting to say the least.

Very. If my wife would carry a real pack, I'd probably buy it for her. She won't carry anything more than a day pack though. My serious long range backpacking is over unless I go by myself or with a good friend as she doesn't do that sort of thing. She's rather load the Land Cruiser and drive to a backcountry location....  :icon_biggrin:

Someone PLEASE snag this one.... It's a Dana Design 'Bomb pack'...... from the same era as my own Dana pack. It's made of 1000 denier cordura and seems to be in excellent condition. I had always thought about buying one of these, but my big Dana always worked well for anything I needed a pack for. Worth whatever you pay I am sure. The original price on these was around $230.00

41 BUCKS! Are you kiiding? I may have to call my brother, the Dana junkie, in CA and let him know.
It's worth watching, that's for sure.

I would bid on that one myself, but I just bought this new Maxpedition pack and am quite satisfied with it. That Dana Bombpack is nice though!
