Maybe this? My audobon book says they range from greenish to brownish to grayish. The yellow under the thigh is what got my attention. that, and the wide toe pads.

I was thinking just a plain old Common Gray Treefrog - Hyla versicolor but you are probably right.

There is a link on this or another similar page, at Texas Park and Wildlife, with an email address for questions, which I used.  I ended up exchanging a few emails with an incredibly qualified Professor who was quite helpful.  I initially thought it was a Strecker's Chorus Frog, Pseudacris streckeri but he explained it was the wrong time of year.  Anyway that's my best guess.

This page is really useful.  I'll record some calls later this summer.  The little digital recorders that are available these days are incredible!

[heading ever further OT]...what are you using Al?  I've been giving some thought to swapping out the pen & notepad for some kind of micro-recorder for daily "diaries" while on an extended hike.  Might weigh less, and, more importantly, would definitely beat writing in the dark on a tiny notepad for 30-45 minutes while trying to stay comfortable physically.

I bought a little Olympus DS-40, $100 at Amazon.com and I have been very impressed. Stereo recording with incredible sensitivity and quality.  I have recorded at least 6 hours of stuff at highest quality and still have a ton of memory left and the battery is still shown to be fully charged.  It's only 0.5 GB but that still holds a LOT of stuff.  I use it to play music too while traveling.  Totally painless to upload files to your PC.  I'm sure there are better bargains and better recorders but I am quite happy with this little unit.  There is no comparison to the old tape recorders in any way.  Far superior.
