The thought had crossed my mind Shane! Gotta save my hard earned vacation & sick days for the upcoming recovery period.   :nailbitting:  It's looking like I may be away from work for 4-6 weeks. Probably means no spring trip to BB this year.  :icon_cry:

If I could get away, I'd think about going to Davis Mts for the eclipse. A few less miles to travel.

Early next month if I can get the doctors to all agree on what we're going to do. I have a follow up appointment with the vascular guy next Tuesday. If he signs off, I just have to get the urologist to get me scheduled for the surgery.

Outside chance for robotic (that would be cool!) or laparoscopic surgery but more likely a 6" full abdominal incision. The latter requires a long (and painful) recovery. Hence no spring trip this year. If they can do it one of the other ways, I'm only down for a week or two. Given the blood vessels involved, the full incision is probably going to be what they do. Oh well. Powerful narcotics will be the order of the day(s)!

Best of luck to you SA Bill.  You take care of yourself.  I'll keep you and yours in my thoughts and prayers.

Interesting how "the collective we" keep up with each other and care about each other, even though we have never met...

Thanks Shane! Nice to have "family" here.

I hope so Al! It's been 3 months since we found out about the problem and we're just now getting to the "fix". I've learned a lot about the health care system in the good old US of A during that time!

Thanks Homerboy!
Turns out I have a congenital mix up inside. Both kidneys are on the right side; ectopic kidney is the medical term. That's not so bad in and of itself.

What's bad is there is a leftover tube or duct that has gotten closed off and causes trouble. That tube surrounds some of the blood vessels that feed the kidneys.

Soooo....they have to be very careful when they go to remove the tube so they don't mess up the blood supply to the kidneys. Hopefully the docs will know what they're doing when they go in! I've had so many x-rays, CT scans, MRIs and probings that they should know every inch of my insides by now.  I hope so!
