I'm a PBJ purist. The peanut butter (I prefer Peter Pan Creamy) shall not touch thou jelly prior to being applied to the bread. My wife kids me whenever I make a sandwich because I try to get both the PB & J evenly distributed, lest you get a bite with only one. Yummy. I probably eat five or six a week.
Jif is my fav.
Jiff Extra Crunchy. Doesn't that imply that there's a Jiff Crunchy? So where is it? I'm forced to go with the Extra Crunchy :?
The problem is the oil separates from the solids especially in the desert and then it dribbles down your chin if not careful.Totally unacceptable when lounging in the desert! What would your camping buddies think!
Try the HEB Central Market Crunchy Peanut Butter. It's nothing but mashed up peanuts; no extra sugar, oils, etc. It separates at room temperature, but if you keep it in the fridge after preparing it then it'll stay stable for the most part (you should still give a good stir every now and then so the stuff at the bottom of the jar doesn't get too stiff).I used to be a Jif man, but I don't think I'll go back as long as I can get a hold of the HEB stuff. Of course, since it's just peanuts it needs a little something else. Depending on my mood I'll add some honey or HEB CM Organic Jelly (strawberry or blueberry) to the sandwich.(And lest I come across as a shill for HEB's CM products, I really do prefer the ones I've tried to the more mainstream brands. They can be a little pricey, but as long as you don't have to feed a small army I think the quality justifies the price.)
