Charon's Garden questions
« on: February 27, 2020, 08:44:19 PM »
Hope to camp in Charon's Garden Backcountry at in late March.
My impressions from research are that the trails are short, there should be sufficient water to filter without having to carry over 2 liters at a time, might not be a good idea to leave camp setup while going for a day hike because it may be trampled by bovines.
Is it safe to leave a vehicle at either one of the namesake trailheads?
Might it be crowded Monday thru Wednesday on a non Spring break week?
My tentative plan is to start from the south trailhead about 1pm, hike to the Backcountry camp area, setup camp and just lounge around. Get up next day and hike to top of Elk Mountain, Crab eyes, Post oak falls, back to camping area, leave next day.
Any advice etc is surely welcome. Thanks in advance
