Kudos (So Far) To Merrell
« on: March 26, 2009, 10:26:40 PM »
I purchased a pair of Merrell Moab Trail Shoes about 6 weeks ago. The fit was fine so I proceeded to wear them everywhere and use them hiking and on the treadmill getting ready for the BB trip next week. Then, about 10 days ago, the right shoe developed a most annoying "scritch" sound with every step. You could hear me coming a mile away. The bears and mountain lions would have know exactly where I was long before I got there.

I had ordered the shoes directly from the Merrell web site. Soooo....I went on line and sent an e-mail to their tech department pleading for anything that I could try to get the noise to go away. Yesterday I had an e-mail from the Customer Service department at Merrell telling me that they were shipping me a new pair right away and I could return the defective pair in the same box using an enclosed return shipping label. Hadn't expected that!

It's too late to get the new pair before the trip so I'm going to use the noisy shoes next week and then clean them up and send them back.

Glad to find a manufacturer that still knows a little about customer service! :eusa_clap:
  Happy so far,

Ha! I too have a pair of Merrells that have developed an annoying "scritch" sound in the right shoe. Of course they're over 1 year old and pretty beat up :icon_biggrin:

It's good to hear about their good customer service.
best regards,
TJ Avery

So have I for at least a 15 years if not more for hiking and walking and I've always found them to be high quality.  I am not surprised the company is good at service also.

Yeah...I've had good luck with Merrell footware in the past. I was annoyed about the "scritch" sound when it started and I'm glad they're going to make it right.

I'm guessing that buying directly from Merrell through their web site helped a lot in getting such a quick response and replacement.

Hopefully the new pair will be noise free! :crossedfingers:

Pedreo, is your field repair for those ol' flippy floppy Merrels still holding up?

So far, so good.  They do not get much wear around the house though.  But I am leaving them outside so they go thru the temp and moisture changes to be sure the glue holds up.  I'll wear them to mow or go fishing and see how they do.
