If you always sleep in a tent while truck/car camping, an inflatable will probably serve you well . . . most nights (I must say I experienced a modern air bed failure recently on the carpet in the bedroom of a home I was visiting. It made for a long and miserable night of semi-continuous re-inflation.)

Al

Ah yes, and with this experience i say you are not alone in this beautiful world of failures...the fast reliable solution as so experienced?..... Krazy Glue .Have not looked back since. Use it!...for life's little emergencies.

Thank you Betteroutside for finding my christmas gift.... :eusa_clap:

From the web site description:
"Its insulation qualities also make it a portable cooler. Frozen game or fish rolled inside will not thaw out for many long hours."

Not sure how often I'll need to roll my frozen food in the pad but it's an interesting way to market the pad I guess.  :eusa_eh:

I promise as soon as i buy it, i while freeze some fish and post my review?..... :eusa_eh:...WTH?...... :icon_lol:,nice observation Professor.

Sanjuro Al, please give us a review on your Cabelas bag when you get back.  At that price it appears to be a real steal!

Count on Cabelas to have some of the best camping (not hiking) stuff.  That pad is the best option I've seen lately unless someone comes up with a reasonable source of raw foam.

Bill, the wrapping of frozen foods in sleeping pads is not a new idea.  It's an old trick to help keep meat frozen when hiking.

That's exactly it, although that piece is a bit small for me.   Foam . . . an investment that keeps on giving.  Thanks!

I know I'm not taking any raw meat with me when I go hiking....maybe others do?  :icon_eek:

Yup, you haven't been doing your homework, Bill, by reading posts. TWWG just brought steaks on one of his recent hikes. I have too, as well as whole potatoes, onions, garlic, canned pie filling, etc. You also have to haul more fuel to luxuriously cook your supper but it can be darned well worth it! Probably best when you have 3 or 4 hikers to divide up the load. Part of the heavy weight backpacking thing.  I haven't hauled all that stuff lately but would if I was in good enough shape.  Luxury items seem especially luxurious when enjoyed in the middle of the desert.
