And while Mr. 500 lbs man & Mr. Grizzly the Bear take a shot at it, I have to inform every one here that there is an option to these Yeti coolers. Much cheaper, i have to add.

The Cabelas Outfitter line of coolers, give the Yeti's a run for their money.

Just check out Some of the reviews the customers post on the product. 4.4 out of 5, that is almost a perfect review.
Stay thirsty, my friends.

Both of you guys have more money to  spend on coolers than I do in these economic times. One of these is like 10 coleman including repair parts, but very "COOL" anyway.

I'm pretty much with Undertaker on this one.  I just use a bungie cord when the hinges break.  Academy has replacement hinges and closure latches for a couple of bucks to repair the old 5-day Igloo cooler . . . works like a champ.

Such are the claims, of Men willing to pursuit satisfaction, at a fraction of it's cost.

I have a "refurbished" 5 day cooler, with parts from Academy Mr. Al, it was brought to me from my first trip to the Del Burros, back in 2004. A throw away from another good friend, I must say. And it works, Flawlessly...Thank you for asking?.

But fellas, you gotta give a chance to this: One would really love an Outfitter Cooler from Cabelas as well...at least side with me , on this one.

----------------

Now, thinking B.I.G. If you were to send me one , for my upcoming B-Day in August. I would strongly recommend you buy me the 192 Quart Cooler, just because i want it and i can put a hose on the outter end and take a needed bath in the desert.

It would do wonders, for my Bronchitis...Yes, :icon_rolleyes:

Gotta keep the ice frozen at the campsite to have a nip or two or even three of some good Scotch on the rocks...

I bet he has one...

How does an ice chest bite the dust?  What failed?

Despite all of that bear proofing and roto-molding that sucker is heavy and meant to sit your boat or truck bed. I wish they would make a wheeled accessory for it. Sometimes we Texans have a bit of a hike to the river.... :icon_wink:

8 years of hard use and countless trips to the West Texas Trans Pecos Big Bend Region...   :icon_lol:

One of the corners and side got damaged awhile back from sliding off the R2D2 camper (Starcraft 11RT) hard.

The coup de gr?ce was driving to central Texas while it was on R2D2 - even though it was strapped down, somehow the lid worked free as we were leaving Houston - a motorist motioned to us - the lid was flapping in the wind held down only by a bungy cord.  All of the hinges were ripped out.  I've found that once that happens, repair is pretty much futile...

It's a nice large cooler.  I do like that it has a "top hatch" in the lid - so you can sneak things out with out opening it all the way and letting the chilled air out of it.

It does have what I consider to be an engineering oversight to it.   Ok, the cooler has nice large real wheels at one end - no plastic girly man wheels, of it that retract like landing gear - along the side of the cooler.  When the wheels are down, it is about 3" off the ground on that one end.  The end that is up in the air also has the drain plug.  Would have been much more engineering and camper friendly if the drain plug had of been at the other end so that the water could be easily drained out.

Also, for the price of this cooler, it didn't come with the "trays" on the inside.  Fortunately, I already have two trays that are in good shape - but still, a cooler this size should come with those standard.  Just happy that the existing ones fit.

Also, if I were the engineer on this - I'd have put some provision or something on it to be able to absolutely securely lock the lid down.  Some bungy tie points or some kind of very secure closing mechanism to keep the air from buffeting it while blasting down I-10 in the West Texas Trans Pecos Big Bend Region at the new 85mph speed limit passed by the legis (ok, 90mph with the standard "5 over rule".   :icon_lol:  Actually, R2D2 the trailer swaying around at anything over 70-75mph scares the beegeezers out of me.  Also, a better lock mechanism would help to keep the critters out of it.

Speaking of the new speed limit, thankfully we are getting rid of  the "night speed limit" - never understood that.  Driving I-10 from Atlanta to Texas at night - it was 70mph all the way - until Texas and then back down to 65mph.

In fact, I emailed Igloo customer service suggesting their engineers and designers have a gander at this thread so that they can better understand what real outdoors people, like Big Benders, think about coolers...  Maybe they will give me free coolers for life or hefty discounts or let me test drive new designs!   :icon_wink:

Since my last name is Coleman I'll go with their products before anything else. Good, quality products and last name.  :icon_biggrin:
