San Antonio gear rental?
« on: January 02, 2011, 07:19:51 PM »
I remember reading in a fairly recent thread (I think :eusa_think:) about renting camping gear. REI was mentioned (Austin)  and a place in San Antonio also. I have been searching around but haven't found the thread yet.  My brother-in-law wants to join El Hombre and myself for a 4 night desert trek in February somewhere near Fresno/Smoky Creek/Elephant Tusk. He lives in SA so it would be much more convenient for him to get all the gear there.
any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Aha, I don't remember Cookie, seeing any rental outlet in San Antonio, posted here. I do remember PERFECTLY a store that sells Camping Stuff though Good Sports Outdoor fitters and the rental site is Outdoorsgeek . I hope this helps.

Muchas Gracias mi Amigo Homero! I think that must have been what I was thinking of. Looks like my brother-in-law will have to do a little work to get out to Big Bend with us.

If he was a student at UTSA, he could borrow stuff for free from the Campus Recreation department. I'd say have him contact them and ask for other options.
