Tent Camping with Air Conditioning

Found this link on the WildTexas.com website (a website dedicated to state parks in Texas).  Could have used this gizmo a few times while camping at Lake Mathis near Corpus Christi in July and August...

You need to consult with Randall.  He rigged his own last summer.  Bought a small window unit and integrated it into his tent.  Reportedly worked like a champ.

The boy has been strangely silent lately . . .

I kinda rigged up something similar for my Pickup truck which has a camper shell on it. It was all homemade out of 2 X 4's & plastic sheeting but worked great, actually was too good. I used it down at Mustang Island in the dead of summer & was freezing. Of course you have to have electricity.

Amen!  Would think that would be the environmentally sound thing to do as well.  No generator noise or air pollution!

While camping at Garner every summer, I see several homemade versions of this. Many tents now come with a special door on the ground for an A/C.

Cool idea.  Nothing sounds so sweet as the sound of a honda generator luling one to sleep on a hot humid night.

That is unless you do not have one.  Then the thought of someone near by being far more comfortable than you are makes your imagination run wild.  You start to believe the gentle hum is keeping you awake.

It isn't the hum that disturbs your sleep.  It is a green monster called jealousy.

This is a great idea, this extends our outings for at least 2-4 months by my perception. That is for us who live in the middle of HELL !!!

There is even a VIDEO describing the AC Boot.

I'll have to agree with you there.  CO is sooo much nicer in August than any part of Texas.  But it would take a lot of gasoline to get me way up there and that would be very ah.............un-green of me.
