Hill People Gear
« on: June 07, 2017, 09:55:30 PM »
Didn't know if anyone has used Hill People Gear but I want to take a moment and brag about their product. Ive been using this gear for about six months and used it exclusively on day hikes in Big Bend Dec. 2016. Pictured is their Tarahumara pack. I think they have the best harness/strap system going right now. Ive just upgraded my entire setup to one of their larger packs, The Ute. Ill post some pictures of that set up once I get it in. They can be found at hillpeoplegear.com. Don't know if anyone is looking to upgrade their kit but they are definitely worth checking out. All made in the USA.

I've used their Recon Kit Bag for several years now. Great for concealed carry while hiking/backpacking. Or just as a chest pack to store maps, snacks, knife, etc. Love it. Very well made. And great company.

Those kit bags do look awesome. I just bought the Ute to replace my kelty pack. It comes with the prairie belt and i got a tarapocket to attach to the back. Cant wait to get this pack loaded and outside.

Hill People has a good reputation among hunters but not many users for just backpacking.  The construction is bomber but the weight is like a bomber too.  Folks might also be interested in the Seek Outside packs for big/heavy loads, also originally founded in the hunting community for hauling out meat etc.  The Divide is capable of over 100 pounds but comes in at around 2.5# but is a bit larger than the Ute.
temperatures exceed 100 degrees F
minimum 1 gallon water per person/day
no shade, no water

Yep. I'm pretty much assuming that the Seek Outside Unaweep is my inevitable future for big trips/big loads. I've yet to read a single bad review.  Just waiting until I absolutely, absolutely need to pull the trigger on that one. $$$$$

Yeah, Its pricey for the cottage industry custom gear, but oh so worth it. I sold one of my firearms to get my new rig from Hill People Gear. It was hard to part with but glad I got my new set up.
