too much stuff?
« on: October 16, 2009, 01:12:16 PM »
It is crazy how all this gear accumulates.  I'm going on a quick camping trip this weekend, was out in the garage getting things organized and came to the realization that I might just have too much of this stuff.

I have 8 tents.  I have four car camping style dome tents. One giant cabin like tent (that sucks).  Three one man backpacking tents.  I also have a Hennessey Hammock, but I'm not counting that as a tent.  :icon_biggrin:

Speaking of the hammock, that thing rocks.  Two weekends ago I had it out in the rain.  Started raining about 5pm and was still raining when I took it down the next morning.  I stayed dry as a bone inside and comfortable as can be.  It was the first time I'd used it and it was a breeze to setup.  I wish I'd gotten one years ago.
WATER, It does a body good.

8 tents!  3 one man backpacking tents!!

I am curious, though, about how one stays dry in a hammock.
Wake me when it's time to go.

I'm a Hennessy convert, too. Spent 10 nights in it in Yosemite last year and the Sawtooths this year. Beats a backpacking tent hands down. I swapped out the canopy that came with it for a MacCat deluxe - much better rain/hail coverage. Sleep system I use takes it down to 20 degrees.

Wow. 8 tents?

I'm getting an inferiority complex...only have 4 tents & 2 tarps...

I do have 5 pairs of hiking shoes or boots, though!

Where's Peach? Isn't she the "woman of many tents," and the "ignitor of stoves?"  :icon_lol:

I had to go count my tents, some I don't use often, so wasn't sure which ones I still had.  Final count was four 1/2.  The 1/2 reflects the hammock but it is not nearly as nice as the Hennessey!  Mine is a two person, however, which can be fun.  ;-)
