Running tights, to be precise. Not to be confused with any other tights I may or may not have ever owned or worn. :eusa_dance:

As an interesting aside to this story...

I was looking online to see about Tyvek competitors and sent an email inquiry to the makers of FLATWRAP asking about some features of their product.

Well...

Yesterday the big boss of Flatwrap called me and asked me some questions about the usefulness of such products for backpackers.  As a result, he is shipping me some Flatwrap to test as groundcloths and etc.  Quote: "WE are always looking for new market areas."

It's rare that a geezer gets to employ lingo from the sixties. Far Out!

I have a relatively cheap silk liner that I use when I need to stretch the rating of one of my bags (I too have a couple). But, I am liking Richard's idea of Lycra running tights. I was even thinking a cycling shirt would make a nice top layer.
Everything is in walking distance if you have enough time.

Why not just get a lightweight bivy?  Got mine from borah gear, weighs 4.5 oz, blocks wind and adds warmth. Cuben bottom, breathable top with mosquito netting/zipper in case you want to escape the bugs. I use it a lot, especially when I don't want to bring the tarp.

Great idea - I've come to the conclusion that I do not need to reinvent the wheel
