What I Did Today
« on: July 16, 2011, 11:47:59 PM »
Not a Raptor, just couldn't justify the extra K's.

Good bye and good riddance to a vehicle I could no longer trust.

I think it's time to get it dirty and head to the West Texas Trans Pecos Big Bend Region...

That's a whole lot of truck and a great price!  What motor does it have in it?

I am really lusting after a new truck.  I drove my 1998 (bought in 1997) F150 from Travis to Borden County TX yesterday, 599 miles round trip.  The truck ran like a top.  Oil pressure is the same as new, the exhaust note is exactly what a well tuned V8 should sound like with no unidentifiable knock or ticks.  148.000 miles and counting.

Enjoy.
Al

Tranny is just fine thank you for asking.  This truck has a gauge even to show tranny temp and then digital temp.

5.0L V8 - better MPG than the Avalanche.  The new Ecoboost 6cyl is first model year and I shy away from that.  The new 6.2 - you can't get skid plates with it on the 4x4 model  :icon_eek:

This was the GM's truck with 1,200 miles on it and had every option I wanted, which was all of them - doesn't have the class 4 HD trailering package - but I don't have a class 4 trailer.  The rear view camera really makes it easy to hitch up a trailer.

I can say Planet Ford in Humble did me right.  $52K and I drove out at $34K (with trade-in) with Ford ext bumper-to-bumper warranty 6 years 70K miles. (just in case there are any future tranny problems)

Silver wasn't my first choice, but Muse had Silver on the ole Lacy so I figured Silver was great.

It needs a new name.  Shall we have a naming contest?  I think the "BIBE Ride" sings or Kathy  :icon_wink:

Getting ready to DIY bed liner kit from http://www.herculiner.com/ as I'm not paying $600-$800 for someone else doing it for a Rhino or a Y-Line or whatever.  I can do the elbow grease myself.

Got the back cover ordered last night as well - it's Avalanche Style which I really liked.
http://bakflip.com/bakflip/f1.html and the tool box to replace the side saddles I had on the Avalanche.  http://bakflip.com/bakflip/box.html

Seems obvious:  3-CPO

Bought mine 10 days ago.  Wasn't crazy about silver either, but since the Tuxedo Black is no longer available this model year the silver is my second choice.  Heading out to BB on hte 28th and am looking for better mileage than my Chevy 1500.  So far, I'm impressed with the motor and dash guage information.  Ride is good, too.

Tuxedo Black is no longer available this model year

Is that due to the pigment shortage due to the Japanese disruption in the supply chain?  Figured they would have that resolved by now.

Kathy was just a figment of my imagination.

Very scary.  Was the truck headed West Bound and Down?  Pedal to the Metal?

Congrats on the new the purchase.

A trusty steed like that deserves a name like Hi-Ho Silver.
