Well I think you will get many of the same answers you got last year but you may have to have several it you get to the spot and it's not

...quite (quiet I assume) and isolated .... i will be there two days and i am NOT doing the south rim...

Grapevine Hill at the Balanced rock, Sotol Vista at sunset, Lost Mine trail summit come to mind.

Good luck, and from someone married 30 years, you don't have to over do it, just do it!
temperatures exceed 100 degrees F
minimum 1 gallon water per person/day
no shade, no water

That's easy!  On top of Casa Grande.  Not a more beauitiful place, and if she wusses out on the way up, you don't want to marry her anyway!

Well, anywhere…anytime…can be made special by actions! I spent my honeymoon camping, hiking and relaxing in Big Bend (way back when). It was sooo romantic and challenging at times. Just a suggestion…if you two are able… take a hike up Lost Mine Trail…bring along a picnic lunch. Then propose!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is soooo beautiful up there!

you're absolutely right....there are too many people out there that pretend to be something they're not while in the courtship phase....make her take a lie detector test so you can guarantee that everything she claims to like that you like is true, so then you can have the perfect relationship forever! why doesn't everybody do that? I mean, then it would be guaranteed, right? Like so many other things in life are..... :eusa_clap:

If you are looking for a challenge for your loved one, you can findd one. I have done a lot of hikes.  Emory is at  7800 ,Lost Mine Trail is about 6850 , and Casa Grande is about 5400. Romance is what you make it! I still think Lost Mine is the answer!

if she is not in to the out doors and all that stuff, Big Bend may not be the place for that.

Heck.....ask her in Las Vegas in front of the Bellagio

Pretty cool idea.

I'd suggest Swirl Tinaja. Quiet. Beautiful. Lacks only a broad vista.

Out of sight of the road but accessible by parking on Rt.118 & then a (brisk) 10-minute or a (moseying) 20-minute hike across interesting & easy terrain.

"Hey, let me show you something cool I learned about on BBC...follow me."

PM me for GPS info, if you want it.

If you were to venture farther afield (and I know this isn't realistic), I'd say anywhere up top on Mesa Anguila, or at the dike running across Onion Flat would be good too.

Don't know what you're driving but I would lean toward the top Pine Canyon primitive site (PC5, last time I checked) if you want to be able to crack a bottle of bubbly and celebrate real time.  Remote with incredible views into Mexico.

The Fossil Bone exhibit may not be appropriate for this. But the Sotol Vista Overlook at sunset would seem spontaneous and surprise her.  Or the Window View Trail in the Basin at sunset would be good also.  Have fun!

Being somewhat of a romantic myself I agree that the remote Pine Canyon site would be the best.  Remote, quiet, beautiful.

I'm not sure I fully understand romance yet, however one of the things that seem to keep popping up is the "forever" factor. So with that in mind I would suggest:
 1) the bench under the tree on the Window View trail ; 2) Sotol Vista at sunset; 3) the pull out on the Basin Road just below Mount Huffman when the sun is low.
The forever factor of these places being that you can revisit any of them when in your 90s, in wheelchairs if needed. All are easy to get to and scenic. If you think your intended would prefer an audience during your proposal then I'd go with the Window view trail at sunset, if no audience is desired then Sotol Vista is better. Sotol Vista is a much larger area so even if others are there you can roam away to a more semi-private setting. The pull out will have some occasional auto traffic passing by. All of them look much better in person than in my photos. Your requirements were quiet, isolated, and beautiful. These locations can be very quiet (especially compared to Philly or San Diego), isolated they aren't (by Big Bend NP standards) but then some think anything south of Van Horn Texas is isolated. I think they are all beautiful.

Best Wishes!  :eusa_dance:

I know it is too late, but in case someone else is thinking this. There is a temptation to over promise in this situation, therefor, I would suggest Luna's Jacal and promise her, if the accepts, you'll provide a slightly nicer home and a less primitive life. If you start with really low expectation, you can't disappoint.  :icon_wink:
