Thank you BBH for posting that. 

Seems like a lot of activity for April - I wonder if it has to do with the serious shortage of rainfall out there? 

This would have been a site to behold - from the safety of my vehicle...

As a heads-up, these won't be up for a while per the park person that responded to my inquiry as to where the last few months were... Basically these details may not be shared 'till they get another webmaster or something like that. I am SUPER bummed 'cause I normally print and save these bad boys when I actually make the list... And I did have an entry this past May that would've made the sightings report. :(

Guess that means they have a new web master on board? The reports went down when Ranger Eric moved on to another park, as I recall.

Looks like this one from DJ's OML, Feb 2009 trip didn't make the report. Maybe it was the same one seen at the Boot Canyon & Juniper Canyon Trail junction.

I have not seen a sighting report before.  Is this a normal amount of bear sightings?  My gosh that seems like a lot.

The number of sightings for this April is above normal, probably brought on by the current drought conditions. With less water, there's less food (e.g. acorns), so they have to get out more and are less concerned with staying hidden from us stinky humans.
