Interesting.  I wouldn't expect many bears out there.  :?

Expect bears and lions....

It is likely that the bears in the Chisos came over to BIBE from the del Carmens in Mexico.  En route you might have met one anywhere from RGV to PJ.  Both bears and mountain lions can have a fairly large range.  As vegetation, etc. recovers through the decades, they might move into areas such as the Rosillos on a permanent basis, and be more widespread throughout the park.
Funny... I have a story about that...

Are on the NPS website...

Thanks for the information.

You'd think that at least some of the sightings would result in some pictures being taken.  It would be nice if the picture takers either sent the pics  to NPS/BIBE or knew of this site and posted them here.    AKA the famous AC1VIPER photo set.

Gosh darn it, always always have that camera close by.  Most of the time going up/down Green Gulch I have the camera at the ready, lens cap off, powered on - just for that National Geographic Moment...

I had my camera ready when my wife and I hiked Pine Canyon in Oct. but it just was not meant to be. Literally minutes before we had our bear sighting my wife dropped the camera and the lens was damaged. we had just reached the pour off and then the camera "accident" happened. It was weird because at that moment I knew we would see the bear on the way down, and sure enough we did. However, we did get to see a bear and yes I still love my wife :D

I was looking at that last night.  Must be quite a shock to see a bear out in the desert.

Don't you know it!  Wonder what a bear was doing down in that area?  You would think they would stay near the mountains.

Folks, as reminder. Transmega Corridor...remember?, these beautiful creatures donґt get an air pass to the mountains, they have to walk the terrain there.

What we need to see there, is Grass...lots of grasslands. It use to be up to a horses belly.
Stay thirsty, my friends.

I usually hike alone when in BB. If I was in Dog Canyon and saw two mountain lions, I'd be worried I might end up as a meal!!!

I'd say at least 4 active mountain lions?  WOW!  4:30pm in the afternoon, Dog Canyon...  I've been there multiple times.  I wonder how many times the mountain lion has been "overhead" peering down.

What about 5 active bears and at least 4 cubs?
