Dec. 2006 I saw a mama bear with three cubs in tow headin' up to the basin.....

All the bears I have seen have been in Jan or Dec as it's the only thime I visit.

Did You Know?
Mountain lions can be found throughout Big Bend National Park, both in the

Just missed the bear at the Lost Mine Trailhead on the 28th.  :icon_cry:  That would've been a cool thing for the two first-timers to see (and me, too, since all the bears I've seen have been elsewhere).

yeah, suppose he didn't report?  I couldn't tell from the thread that he did.

but looks like there were plenty other kitties.  not many bears, guess they are keeping warm in a lower location than the Chisos.

Just something to think about...A ranger  I beleive her name was Mary...she was real passionate about Big Bend when giving her presentation....anyways she told us that they have to put any siting whether by a child or adult on the sightings list...was basically saying that there is a possibility Maybe even a probability that some sightings are fabricated...or a figment of one's imagination... :eusa_think:

You mean like claiming to have watched a kill from 50 yds away and then producing pictures of unfocused nothingness?

Was it wrong to say that?  :eusa_shifty:

just curious, are we really thinking this didn't occur?  I distinctly saw the lion's tail in 2 of the shots, and the deer's rack in another.  The carcass shot was obviously distinct...
