I'll second the glowing recommendation for Keen shoes; I now own 4 pair of them. I was a big fan of other shoemakers like Timberland and Vasque, but have become a convert since I began wearing Keens daily 2 1/2 years ago. Bear in mind that no one shoe form will fit everyone, but absolutely none have done as well as my Keens have. They're unbelievably comfortable, durable, and not one of them have required ANY sort of break-in process...I'm still trying to figure that last one out, because years of prior experience had taught me otherwise.

I also own a pair of mid-top Targhee II's, which i've now used in BiBe over two visits---to great results. I just got finished with another fairly nasty hike in a marshy area during a rainstorm, and even though water eventually leaked down my ankle and into the boots, soaking my feet hours before the end of the hike...I still had no ill effects what-so-ever... And the boots shrugged off the abuse.

After literally 3+ decades of hiking and camping (and being VERY critical of my boots), they are simply the best footwear i've ever owned. I simply can't say enough about them. :ecomcity:

I paid full price for my Keen Targhee II's and consider it my best investment in footwear.  They're the 1st pair of hiking boots which I'm perfectly happy to wear around camp at the end of the day and performed very well under a heavy load and on the varied terrain during our Elephant Tusk/Fresno hike this spring.  Next up......above the treeline in northern New Mexico!
