the western side of the dodson as a day hike
« on: December 26, 2011, 07:13:02 PM »
from the parking lot at the homer wilson pullout it takes about two hours to reach a saddle. the view from the saddle is one of the best in the park. i've done it in the morning a couple of times, but late afternoon is best. stay up there until the sun begins to set, then descend into the sunset. the trail is easy to follow if it gets dark on the way back. i took a head lamp, never needed it.

What is the name of that mopuntain right there?  The slanted one?  Is it 5400+'?  If so, I want to climb it.

Ah, ok; I'm looking for a mountain farther east just north and east of Tortuga (across Dodson) that is 5400+'.
