FREE TEXAS TOPO for Garmin GPS

Entire State of Texas Topo

I have looked at this map and it is pretty good. Contains all topo data for the entire state as well as detailed road and street level info. It is quite a large download (471 MB), but it has an installer (no registry hacks required) , and an uninstaller.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks badknees, I think  :eusa_think:

It was not a clean install. The installation program changes something in the registry/startup for MapSource, I assume to add itself to the map selections. After installion MapSource would crash with an error stating I need to reinstall the USTopo basemap patch (Don’t have USTopo 8 yet).

Reinstalled patch and now North American City Select is locked  :willynilly: Reinstalled North American City Select and all seems to be working well now.

Haven’t given it a close look yet, but I did notice that it shows contours just across the river in Mexico where USTopo does not.

It absolutely makes a registry entry in this key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Garmin\Mapsource\Families\

This makes the map available to MapSource.

I have been working on a map for quite some time that contains the same data for contours and roads, but is much more detailed when it comes to springs, trails, and historic sites. All I lack is some elevation points that are shown on the paper topo to complete the project. After that I will be willing to share with fellow benders.

Yes it does! Apparently (in my case) without any regard to what was already there.

It is worth the effort though :eusa_dance: , just wanted to share that if multiple products are installed within MapSource you may have to reinstall them.

You have this topo/Garmin gps thing down to a science.  :eusa_clap:
