Garmin 60CSX on sale at REI
« on: May 18, 2010, 05:07:32 PM »
Just got the REI sale flyer for the May 21-31 sale.  They have the 60CSX on sale for $150 off!  ($200 instead of $350)

Thought as most folks recommend this model a lot I would be of interest.

Don't get any ideas or your hopes up Homero.   :icon_wink:

I think the recommendations are mainly for the 60csx which has the electronic compass and altimeter... it's still pricey at $286 at Amazon.  The 60sx is over $250 at Amazon, so that REI price is a steal for sure.

I'm holding the flyer in my shaking hands. :icon_eek: The sale is for the 60CSx so $199.99 is a great price! :eusa_dance:

I'll be on line early Friday to order one. I've been looking for a deal and just haven't found one low enough to make me pull the trigger. This price is just the ticket to get me to buy one. Just stimulating the economy...really. :eusa_think:

The 60Csx it a great unit, but this sale lends even more credence to the rumor that a replacement is about to be announced.

SA Bill:  I'd highly recommend you purchase the Garmin cover for the unit.  It protects the screen without degrading the display quality significantly and adds a layer of cushion around the unit.  It saved mine for sure when my 60csx decided to get loose and fall 5 feet onto concrete while I was crossing a busy road.  Not a single scratch or dent on the unit after that tumble.

My bust, it is the CSx I just was too much in a hurry to tell Homero!

I have changed the original subject line to the correct model so others won't be mislead.

I've got a CSx I bought in December last year and wouldn't take for it. I passed up a deal today in a pawn shop on a Garmin Rino 130. Its only problem is you can't put a SD card in it and its internal memory is limited to 24Mb.

Thanks dkerr24! Good idea. I'll get one for sure.

Agree with the Garmin cover.  Plus, we have a Shieldzone screen protector on it as well that will protect the screen but not the rest of the unit; hence the reason for the cover. Came in handy at Erock a couple of years ago when I dropped it.  Not a scratch on it with that cover protecting it...

Score! 60CSx Already On Sale At REI
« Reply #10 on: May 20, 2010, 10:12:24 PM »
I checked the 60CSx price tonight, expecting it to still be $350.00, with the idea that I would place my order in the morning when the price dropped to the sale price of $199.99. To my surprise, the sale price was shown and I went ahead and placed my order tonight. :eusa_dance: Don't know if there will be a problem with supply at this price but I'd recommend ordering sooner rather than later. At such a good price, they should sell a bunch.

The main reason it's on sale is, the 62CSx is coming soon, probably a touch-screen like the fancier Oregons.

60CSx Arrived!
« Reply #14 on: May 26, 2010, 08:52:26 PM »
Tracking yesterday showed delivery for today. Nothing when I got home from work but there was a package on the front porch when we got home from dinner. :eusa_clap: Installed batts and just turned it on here in front of the computer to see what the screen looked like. A minute or two later, it had a lock on 5 satellites. This is inside the house, about 4' from a south facing window with trees right outside. A much better performance than I've been used to with my old etrex Legend! :icon_eek: I'll bet the CSx will be even better when I get it outside!! Much learning to do have I!
