Bill - I think you'll see a big difference in the sensitivity of the GPS receiver in the 60csx compared to your old etrex.  Mine even worked when *inside* the top pocket of my pack while hiking.

I've had pretty good luck with rechargeable NiMh AA's in the unit.  A fully charged pair usually lasts around 12-14 hours.

I've got a CSx I bought in December last year and wouldn't take for it.

Yep, I said I wouldn't take for it but I did. I found a deal on a Oregon 300. I bought it, put topos on it and went out west of Del Rio with a it a couple of weeks ago. It performed every bit as good as my CSx signal wise. It has better screen resolution, way faster zoom and redraw and a touch screen interface and a lot of features the CSx doesn't have like being able to make custom maps from pdf's and other type of media and import them directly into the unit. Cool stuff. It's only drawback so far is the battery life doesn't seem to be as long. About 12 hrs using NiMh batteries. Sold my 6CSx last week.

I too upgraded to an Oregon and prefer it. Would've offered my 60CSx for sale here but the timing was bad. Why buy my old one when you can get a new one for not a whole lot more.

That said, I'll take best offer :)
