Google Earth Question
« on: August 16, 2007, 12:21:57 PM »
I seem to remember that there was a setting change that needed to be made in GE to prevent crashes when zooming in too far.

Can anyone help?
  Thanks!

Here is a link to JeffB’s post.

You should also disable KML error handling under Tools->Options->General->Abort File Load on Error. Otherwise there will be annoying error messages when you zoom in too far.

You will still get the red X but not the multiple error messages. It also reverts back to the default setting when you exit Google Earth. I haven’t found a way to permanently save the settings.

Thanks Hoodoo! That was fast!

That's what I was looking for. My problem is GE glitches on my older laptop and causes a complete reboot! Since it takes my laptop a long
time to get back up to speed, it's inconvenient to say the least.

I'll give this a try when nothing else is running to see if it does the trick. Too bad it won't stay set that way...wonder why?

Your welcome, slow day at work… I don’t know why it won’t save the settings…unless it is a hook to encourage you to upgrade to Google Earth Plus. :x

Google's span is rather large. The spoof newspaper, The Onion, did an article  in 2005 that plays into how deeply Google gets involved with things.

See it here http://www.theonion.com/content/node/40076
