Title: GPS units for south of the Equator
Post by: The Scorpion on December 08, 2007, 08:57:20 PM
My brother-in-laws father is going to be making a trip to South America early next year, then they will go from there down to Antarctica. They are looking for a good hand held GPS unit that can get maps for South America and Antarctica.

I know some free maps are available on the web for North America, but not so sure about South America and Antartica.

Any ideas on a unit and mapping, ease of use is a plus as the father of my brother inl aw is not so tech savvy, but he can read a manual and figure it out.

would the Garmin 60Csx do nicely???

James

Do a google search. There are maps available, but you likely will not find much that is useful, or compatible with your GPS without spending some money.

Yes, as it will accept compatible map files.
