When I installed Windows 7 i expected a few of my programs to not work. When I finished moving all the programs over using PC mover, some programs I had to do a "repair" install and they worked just fine.
Map Source was a different different story. I waited until this weekend to mess with it and figure out what the problem was. so I un-installed it, reinstalled from CD, upgraded via the program updater and all worked well. I went to install the Central US TOPO maps and Mapsource would no longer work, and it gave me some funky error and it said to copy the test of the error and email to Garmin support. here is the response I received and all has been wroking great
I know the text below references Vista, but I had no problems with Map Source on Vista, so I dont understand why Windows 7 hosed it up, oh well it works now.
Thank you for contacting Garmin International.
If you are using VISTA please first try these corrections to the startup process of the program:
1) Set the shortcut to open and run as the administrator:
A. For Mapsource and Training Center go to the short cut for the program.
B. Right click on the short cut, and left click on PROPERTIES.
C. Now click on the tab COMPATIBILITY.
D. Now almost at the bottom of this Compatibility window you will see the option for (Run this program as the Administrator), click on the box to check mark this option.
E. Now click on APPLY and then close the Properties window.
F. Now these programs should open/install without the error message.
