Question Re: Garmin GPSMAP 62s
« on: February 13, 2011, 06:31:12 PM »
OK, so I had a jury trial a couple weeks ago.  The client is a hiker, but doesn't do much stupid stuff.  Over lunch, we talked a lot about my stupid escapades.  He was shocked that I do not carry so much as a compass, or a watch.  Just a topo.  I explained that when I want to get away from the city, I REALLY want to get away.  He's a techie--carries a SPOT, GPS and Sat phone.

Anyway, we won the trial and as a token of appreciation, I suppose, he sends me a Garmin GPSMAP 62s and a SPOT.  So far, my fears about these devices have been confirmed, as the dadgum Garmin didn't come with a written owner's manual, I cannot get the one on-line to open (message is "Bad encrypt dictionary") and I cannot figure out how to make the dadgum thing work.

Anyone know where else I can maybe download the owner's manual other than from Garmin, or any advice on using the gosh darn thing?

You can e-mail me at jreenan@winstead.com if that helps.  Many thanks.

I can not believe, you can not open this link:

http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/GPSMAP62_OwnersManual.pdf

Download it and open it in your pc,tablet, smartphone. What ever techy thing you have.

Any chance you can put me in touch with your client?...i have some wagers i need to throw on his/her table...... :icon_redface:. I too, want another Garmin62 Csx. :eusa_shifty:

Thanks Homer!  I dunno why I couldn't get the one on garmin.com, but your link worked.

Now, I STILL have to learn how to use the dadgum thing...

And the SPOT...
