Title: RIP GPSFileDepot?
Post by: Jonathan Sadow on June 03, 2015, 03:43:02 PM
Every time I've tried to access GPSFileDepot in the past few weeks, I get a message that the webpage is not available.  Where can one go to get maps for Garmin units now (free, of course, because everything on the Internet should be free)?

Not for me.  I tried your direct link in Chrome and got the same message as before.  I also tried it in Internet Explorer and got a "cannot display the webpage" message.  I haven't been able to ping it successfully, either.  Other websites load with no problem.  All I can think of at this point is that my ISP (AT&T) is blocking the site for some reason, or perhaps the site's IP address changed and AT&T hasn't updated its DNS table.

Works for me and I'm on AT&T, but does error sometimes too.

Most likely a problem with the host - DREAMHOST, LLC

Just to update this thread, on a recent trip I tried loading GPSFileDepot in a motel I was staying at, and the page loaded perfectly.  It's got to be something with my individual access point....

If it's not working on  your home pc or laptop, try clearing the temp files in IE and/or the cache in Chrome.
I just clicked the link and got to the page.
Now if I  can just find something for Tom-Tom or Android.
I need to do  some research.

Clearing the cache was the first thing I tried, and it didn't help.  I used the same laptop when attempting to connect at the motel without clearing the cache, and it worked.  It has to be my individual access point.
