2019 Guadalupe Fall Color
« on: November 12, 2019, 09:45:34 PM »
Fantastic trip, everything went like clockwork.  So grateful for so many things coming together just right.  The color was completely unexpected.  I thought it would be too late for it.  I also thought the cold would be brutal, but I hit a nice slot between weather systems.  I'll not attempt to compose a narrative; hard to put this trip into words.

1.  Yes, the trees were still in full Autumn splendor:

2.  A technicolor world:

3.  Taking a break under a big pine tree:

4.  Looking up at the big pine:

5.  Land of Light:

6.  Serenity:

7.  A painting from nature's easel:

8.  So many colors:

9.  Looks warm, but no, too chilly for any frolicking in the water:

10.  Oasis:

11.  How yellow can it get?

12.  Abundance:

13.  Red Maple:

14.  Never seen a big tarantula like this one:

15.  A blaze of color:

16.  A battery-powered string of lights brightens the camp:

17.  A change of weather adds drama:

18.  A wet night coming on:

19.  Solid fog in the morning:

Fall colors looked nuts this year! I only got to see them through pictures but they seemed more alive than previous years. Awesome that you got to see them in person.

Where did you guys camp?

:eusa_think: Well, I camped 2 nights at Pine Springs... As for the tarantula, not sure where she stayed.  :icon_biggrin:

Great trip!  :great: What were the daily temperatures?

Thanks, everyone, for your interest and comments!

As to daily temps, it was like mid 70ís, with temperatures plunging at sundown, but then leveling off in the mid 50's.  My nocturnal walk to the restroom wasn't cold, and with the moon setting early, the sight of the Milky Way galaxy gave added compensation.

That was at first.  Later on, a front moved in bringing cold and wet.  I seem to remember 43 degrees on the dashboard thermometer when I left the park.

Oh sorry. I am looking at the pictures on my phone so they're tiny. Didnt recognize you in the one where you are wearing your sun hat and standing farther back.
You got a good site with tree cover at Pine Springs.
