Look what I stumbled upon last night: 0.5 ounce per liter bottle!!!!  Sadly, the narrow mouth probably won't work with a Steripen, but still.......wow.

Oh! Good one! Thanks HMOD. I rummaged through my gear and I have one of these. I forgot about it. I will buy another one and ditch the Smart water bottles. 1.6 ounces saved.

Make sure you get the latest iteration - the ultralight. Itís fairly new. I used one of the old ones on my 2016 cross-park attempt, but apparently the new ultralight, at .5 ounce, is significantly lighter!

Again, good luck!!!

On 2.16.19 we hiked Estufa Spring to some water pools just below Banta Shut-in and back. Didn't see any water at Estufa Spring. It was a long, hot hike but very pretty.

I will start my Arizona Trail Hike this Saturday.

I am in Phoenix now, making last minute preparations. I am mailing myself two resupply boxes for the first half of the hike. I will come to Phoenix for three days for my cousin's wedding on April 26, then return to the trail after that.

I was supposed to be in Big Bend over spring break but I injured myself. I had a severe case of food poisoning on February 24, which caused be to faint three times. The first time I fainted I was in a bathroom. I was out for about 5 minutes in a twisted position on the floor. When I recovered I had a severe muscle strain on the left side of my back, right below the bottom rib. It took 4 weeks to heal.

I was afraid I might have to delay my start of the AZT, or possibly cancel the hike if the start date was pushed back to April 1 or later, because it would be too hot in the desert portions. But my back got better. I am still not 100%, but I can start the AZT hike.

I was in no condition to come to Big Bend on March 10. I am very sad I missed that. But I talked my friends into a possible Big Bend trip in November or December  :icon_biggrin:.

After the AZT hike I may come to Big Bend for a few days in June and do some hiking/camping in the Chisos. We shall see!
