MdA Shade Spots?
« on: March 19, 2019, 07:41:55 PM »
I know there is not much shade at MdA, would anyone have a map with any shade break/lunch spots or at least an idea along the trail to the point?

Thank You!

About the best you're going to find is occasional shade under ledges.  When you cross a watercourse, follow it up or down.  There are some shaded areas under some ledges.  De-pack and lean against the cool rock walls.
Leave "quit" at the car.  Embrace the trail as your friend.  Expect to enjoy yourself, and to be amazed.

I'd add some of the tinajas to that list, and maybe the Sinkhole. At certain times of day, a little exploration of those may reveal shady places to take a break and have a snack, and maybe even draw a little water (none in the Sinkhole).

Start at midnight or so with a light pack. Arrive at the point at an hour before sunrise. Hang around take pics til 930 or so. Head back be at car at 3pm. Youíll have no sun on way to point and itíll be at your back on the way out

You can easily downclimb into the sinkhole for some great shade!
