Title: Old Ore Road Bear Boxes
Post by: elhombre on December 19, 2014, 03:15:21 PM
I am wondering which car camp sites along Old Ore Road have bear boxes.  I would call the rangers but they don't know.  Last time out there I was told by a ranger that Rice tank has one and I needed to use it.  But that is not true.  Actually, that is pretty funny because the next campsite down Glenn Springs road  is the one that the bear broke into a camper's stuff, and thus precipitated the bear container hysteria.   Does it even have one now?

Anyway, I am looking at leaving a cash in some of them on a backpacking trip, and I figure people here have first hand knowledge of one being there, and not "I think so" or " there should be one".       Thanks, and Merry X-mas!

McKinney Spring does NOT have a bear box... unless one was added in the last 8 months...

Unless they have been added recently, I don't think any of the sites along Old Ore have one.  They're all pretty far from the mountains.

None at La Noria. There is a section of this forum with info on the campsites. Many have pictures.
