This Year not good for Wildflowers!!!
« on: February 24, 2011, 05:05:53 PM »
Jan 24, 2011 Big Bend reports: In the Big Bend, winter is aptly called the dry season. True to its name, this season has been dry, as was the fall season that preceded it - we have had no precipitation for at least three months. There will be some blooms, probably in mid- to late February - mostly perennials like bluebonnets and bi-colored mustard at lower elevations - but this will probably not be a good year for spring wildflowers.

We saw evidence of a poor wildflower year when we there a couple of weeks ago.  Jimbob noted, unlike normal, there were no bluebonnets along the side of the roads.
