Terlingua Abajo to Bruja Canyon
« on: August 09, 2011, 11:53:19 AM »
Does anyone have any info on this hike?  I am taking some family to the park in October and this may be a neat hike to do from our basecamp at Terlingua Abajo.
I did find this thread:

http://www.bigbendchat.com/portal/forum/your-trip-reports/big-bend-rookies-trip-report-115-118/

I just want to know if persons in their late 50's/early 60's can do this hike...

Ah Big Bend, we will soon return to reacquaint ourselves in our ritual of blood, exhaustion and dehydration. How can we resist the temptation to strip ourselves of the maladies of civilization?

It's a pretty flat hike so it shouldn't be a problem.  On the way back you may want to swing a bit north and west along the south side of the creek.  There are some neat rocks in the erosion area.

Al is correct it is pretty easy and flat.  There are three ways to go, south of the hills between TA and Bruja past the ruins of the old farming community and the most common route.  South and up the wash between the hills and then west or north of the hills.  I would go out one way and back the other.

temperatures exceed 100 degrees F
minimum 1 gallon water per person/day
no shade, no water
