Camp Sites up Juniper Canyon
« on: January 29, 2013, 09:32:37 PM »
My amigo and a new convert are looking at a modified OML in early March.  We plan to begin at the Juniper/Dodson trailhead near Twisted Shoe and travel counterclockwise (up Juniper, up Boot, across the Rim, down Blue Creek, and then across the Dodson and back to our vehicle).

Question: is there a place to camp after Juniper begins to climb?

It look to me as if the stretch between the final level areas in the "Juniper Bottoms" and JC1 is off-limits to camping.  Is this so?

Somewhere above Juniper Springs to the East side of the trail is a very nice and very well used camp site.  I have even seen this particular camp site on Park advertising.  The view off to the East is tremendous.  Is this "open for business?"

Thanks in advance for all of your great ideas.

Also - just for kicks - can anyone give me a quick idea of the trail miles between the Dodson/Juniper Canyon trailhead and JC1?

From the Parking area at JC2 it is 6.1 miles to JC1.
