Chisos Water Report
« on: October 29, 2018, 12:31:29 PM »
With all the recent rain, there was plenty of flowing water in Boot Canyon yesterday.  Come get some.

Also, water all along Fresno creek was visible from the South Rim, and the secret falls were flowing.  Go see it if you can find a place to park.  Lot was full Saturday.  Mosquitoes in just about every shady spot everywhere I stopped in the park, from the desert to the Chisos.  Bring some deet.

More photos and a trip report in the next few days....

With all the recent rains I assumed there would be plenty of water in the Chisos, the mosquito plague I had not even considered!  Thanks for the report.

Me, either. Mosquitoes are one thing we rarely have to worry about in Big Bend, but this is the second recent report of swarms. Thanks for the report, CC!

That's beautiful. I wish I had that on endless repeat on my laptop screen.

That's fabulous, I have never seen a shot of water from the pipe and water running down the wash.

Boot Spring yesterday.

Wow!

One ancillary question.  Can I expect mosquitoes at Ward Spring and Rio Grande Village too?

Curiously, I had a few mosquitos buzzing me near Mule Ears Spring but thatís all they did, didnít land, didnít bite, just buzzed and only at dusk, disappeared after dark.
