Plan B if Chisos Campsites full
« on: March 11, 2011, 09:44:24 AM »
I have always been to the park over Christmas and never had a problem securing the permits I desired. Since I am arriving Saturday afternoon, I am a bit concerned. My back up plan to a conventional two nights in the Chisos is:

Zone permit along the Blue Creek Trail for Sunday night. Day hike from there to the South Rim, Boot Canyon, etc. than back down to the same camp. We will then hike out that night for the RG Village which we have reservations for.

I am also considering the Windows trail and back down towards Nail. I'm forgetting exactly what is down there, and I do not have my maps here with me.

Any other zone hints would be appreciated.

And is Spring Break really as crazy as some of the reports I am hearing? How does it compare to Dec 26-31?
Everything is in walking distance if you have enough time.
