Has anyone roasted a sotol heart? I am intrigued by that; they have a diagram of a roasting pit up on Sotol Vista...perhaps something like a roasted artichoke heart?Supposedly it also ferments easily, one only needing to soak the sotol in water; Naturalist's Big Bend describes the taste of sotol (the liquor) as somewhat like a mix of kerosine and hair oil.Sorry, the mention of bears eating sotol hearts just brought back dreams and notions of hunting/gathering in the Chihuahuan Desert...
