It's a secret.

Oh, alright...tomorrow, we attempt a traverse of Vernon Bailey--up via the SE Ridge and down via an as yet to be determined way to Oak Springs; next day, Twisted Shoe and hike to Elephant Tusk; next day, up ET via the Notch and back to Twisted Shoe; next day, Lost Mine Peak.

Of course, that plan could all change at the slightest whim!

Holy crap...

OK, here was what we actually did:

Thursday--Vernon Bailey--got to the point where the "other guys" went across a ramp to the north peak; got kinda lost scrambling around on some cliffs; then, discovered a new, direct route up to the main summit which seems very easy, but by then it was 2 p.m. and we were facxed with the prospect of bushwacking in the dark, so we left the summit for another day

Friday--Lost Mine Peak

Sat--Pt 5585 in the Sierra Quemada--a real fun bushwack

Sun--inspiration hit and my Bro went up Carter while I went up Gilbert's Promontory and i got pics of my Bro on top of Carter with the Christmas Mountains in the background.  How cool is that!  Also got pics of Cattail Canyon and (I think) Bryan's Falls.  We were booking it--made it from the campground to the top of the Carter talus slope in under an hour.  Then he was on Carter in an hour after that and I was on Gilbert's Promontory same time.

I'm a little tired today!

That sounds very cool, now rest up and then come back to us with pics and prove how cool it is. (please?  :icon_cool:)

I sent one to Richard.  Beyond that, I am about to collapse, between the trip, getting the 6 kids to school, work, etc.  Hopefully I'll be good tomorrow...

Oh, AND, I also saw my first mountain lion in the park, which was nice.  It was moving too fast (and I too slow) to get a pic though.

Where in the Sierra Quemada is this particular Pt 5585 located, steelfrog?  :eusa_think:
I spent way too much time looking in ACME Mapper for it...   :icon_rolleyes:

It's about 2-3 miles ESE of the end of Juniper Canyon. It's the highest point in that general area.

Yep, if you click to zoom in, you can just barely make out a figure standing on top of that peak!  Awesome!

There is no pt. 5585 marked on the USGS topo and nothing that high ESE of the end of Juniper canyon.  I am assuming he was so tired he meant WSW and it might be the high point lance snead climbed last year that is east of Dodson Spring, north of the Dodson trail and does have a smaller side peak marked 5412.

We know he hiked to some point in some area of some park on some Saturday and he had fun.  :icon_mrgreen:

Mule ears is correct, it's to the WSW of the juniper/dodson trailhead.  There is no USGS point to mark it, but it's just NE of PT 4636.
You can see it in this pano, just right of Crown Mountain.  PT 5412 I climbed is just west of the Crown and right of the rim.

Here's a pano of the South Rim from PT 5412, which I call Dodson Peak..
