What are your plans?
« on: December 21, 2011, 10:55:38 AM »
Does anyone have any epic stupidity planned for the next 6 months that they are willing to share?

I have one planbned for New Years eve weekend with a buddy--epicly stupid is being generous, that's how dumb this plan is; so dumb, I cannot reveal details.  However, suffice that if revealed, I would be subject to much approbrium and browbeating.

I do plan in April to take my 5 and 7 y.o.s up Casa Grande and pose them on that far south peak, where an epic picture can be taken that will draw massive amounts of derision.

well, what else is in the works?

I've got an EPIC two week trip planned out.  The goal is to undertake it in May.  Hopefully my hiking partner can make it and I can undertake this!!  Details will be revealed at a later date.

In the mean time, I'm gonna hit the OML a couple times!

I know what that plan is and all three objectives should be achievable with only the farthest south one being the most difficult/unknown.

Two weeks in May means it must not be in Big Bend, can't wait to hear the details

For everyone else, having just finished my latest epic walk, I can relate to not sharing the details widely until it is done.  Just be sure it is not too epic and results in a SAR situation.  Do share details with those that know and can advise and of course leave exact details with responsible parties before you leave.

I have several more big walks on the drawing board, but they are beyond the 6 month scope of steelfrog's original question.
temperatures exceed 100 degrees F
minimum 1 gallon water per person/day
no shade, no water

I can reveal other plans, for later:

February--I am hoping to do a loop through the Solitario through Lower shutup and right (?) hand shutup, in addition to other things in the Ranch.

March--The Great American Road Trip; all 8 of us headed to Cali; all the way up Highway 1 (starting at Monterrey); car camping; up through Oregon, etc; redwoods, whale watching; head over through Idaho, Wyo, Utah, etc

April--BB/CG plus Organ Mountains in NM

Early May--Grand Canyon R3 (again)

June-Sept--Don't know the order, but there will be a trip to the Canadian Rockies--Yoho NP, Jasper NP, others; another big trip to the North Cascades; Truchas Peak in NM; in Colorado July 4 weekend, a bunch of 14ers; Prolly a trip to Cali, around the Minerets prolly

In the Fall--going to do the whole Telephone Canyon area/Marufo Vega etc; also, on a seperate trip, Mesa de Anguilla

2013 is a big Alaska trip, still in planning stages.  Hell, may not come back from that one...

Anyone else got any idears?
