LOL! Lived in Georgetown for 30 years about 2 miles from the Russell Park entrance.  Never ran across anyone like that!  Had a few, very few, who were less than friendly but no one like this!

Sounds like a girlfriend I had back in the 90's. Let me put the emphasis on "sounds like".

The sad thing is that this is becoming so typical of school secretaries, those who answer phones at state agencies, the people who run the driver's license offices, clerical people at city offices, and so on.
Leave "quit" at the car.  Embrace the trail as your friend.  Expect to enjoy yourself, and to be amazed.

What's funny is i've backpacked the goodwater loop trail a few times this year...walked thru each park, kindly nod to the attendants and carry on. Couple of instances that stand out with them, One time we found a sleeping bag that must have fallen out of a kids backpack, a typically square heavy bag, went up to the gate and said we found this, and didn't want to throw it away. She (not the lady talked about here, unless she gained weight since then) took the bag and thanked us. Second instance on a sunday morning we stopped at a gate (jim hogg i think) that was unoccupied at the time and eat breakfast, and had some water. The attendant pulled up and got in his box and started playing his (not guitar, shaped like one, but he played it laying flat on his lap...) pretty awesome, talked with him for awhile and then were on our way.

Funny that people like that are out there doing things in that line of work that should be enjoyable, or helpful to other people. She is what will turn others off from wanting to be outside. Who will ultimately spend money at the park, fishing, hunting, camping, money going to the state local areas, etc... Glad that she is not working there anymore. Sad that it had to come to this the way it did.
Climb if you will, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence, and a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime. Do nothing haste, look well to each step, and from the beginning, think what may be the end. Edward Whymper.
