Acronym's & Definitions used on www.bigbendchat.com

No need to keep it sorted, just do a search <CTRL> <F> while on this page to look for the acronym.

0.    SAR - Search and Rescue
1.    DUST-OFF - term used for medical evacuation helicopters that extracted wounded personnel directly from the battlefield.  Call sign of the 57th Medical Detachment (Helicopter Ambulance). This became snynonymous with all Medevac units serving in Vietnam.  Slang for Medevac.  (took me a while to find this one)
2.    CW - Conventional Wisdom
3.    BIBE - Big Bend National Park
4.    PJ - Panther Junction
5.    PG - Persimmon Gap
6.    RGV - Rio Grande Village
7.    NPS - National Park Service
8.    BOL - Be On the Lookout For
9.    BBRSP - Big Bend Ranch State Park
A.    BGWMA - Black Gap Wildlife Management Area
B.    EMWMA - Elephant Mountain Wildlife Management Area
C.    EROCK - Enchanted Rock State park
D.    RIGR - Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River
E.    C&C - Cache and Carry Water
F.     LaHideous - name coined when referring to Lajitias.
G.    PJ VC - Panther Junction Visitor Center
H.    BC - Back Country
I.     FMO - Fire Management Office located at Panther Junction in the
administrative and residential area.
J.     VC - visitor center
K.    PLB - personal locator becon - device used to send out an emergency signal when activated.  Costs approx. $500 or so or can be rented as needed.
L.     FOIA - Freedom of Information Act.  See www.firstgov.gov and use the search term of FOIA for more information.

Stumped me too.  Thankfully Al Gore invented the internet  :lol: so that I didn't have to go racing up to the library to search out the truth.  I could have asked, but I find I retain things better if I search it out myself.  (Ladies - I also rarely stop and ask for directions - rather figure it out on my own)

Body has stitches and holes (healed), that thanks to dust off is only reminder of a very bad day, long ago.  Love Dust Off, Love the guys/girls that fly same. Will buy a drink or food for any of them anytime. Military is always welcome in my BBQ tent at any cookoff. =D>  Keep em feed, If they are in Uniform and can't drink, pass gets them back in with family when out of uniform. 8)
