When we got to the Big Bend National Park the entrance station was closed and the notice directed us to the visitor center 26 miles away which would also be closed by now. There were several camping sites listed on the map on the station wall but there was nothing we could take with us to help with any directions Every road we passed seemed to turn into a narrow dirt road which was too tiny for us. We had learned our lesson in Oregon about going onto a road we were unsure of especially with night time so closely approaching. When we got to the visitor center their sign directed us to a campground another 20 miles away. Now Steve got really upset. We were tired, wasting fuel, and had no map. The only wildlife we saw were a number of tarantulas crossing the road. They were huge! The sunset on the Sierra Del Cameron Mountains was just beautiful. They are the mountains on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande. Unfortunately we were both too tired to stop and take pictures. Finally we got to the campground. The full hook up area was very full, crowded, and the spots were very tiny. It was basically a parking lot where every one had his own little spot. We went over to the primitive no hook up section and found a beautiful spot. The very first thing I did was give Steve a nice cold glass of wine. After we both had showers, we felt so much better and had a relaxing evening playing cards until bed.

Kinda reminds me of my first trip. No map, pull in about midnight and found the overflow camping area (regular campground was full).

Wife and I spent the first part of our honeymoon in a popup in RGV. Loved that trip. Awsome.
