Need to make sure we check back with her and following her continuing exploits and get a trip report from her movie making in BIBE.

I wonder if it's a porno flick?

I just didn't take you for a MySpace kind of guy!l...By the way, that ice machine business link you sent earlier in the week was hilarious.

No, not a myspace or a facebook kinda guy - do have profiles setup on both to be with the in-crowd.  Actually, the google bot turns me on to all this stuff - google enhanced the bot so that it now goes through blogs, etc.

As far as the ice is concerned, I think it's a neat idea.  Next trip I'll get my ice there - much cheaper than buying it by bag.

Well, I'd rather happen upon her in the nude @ BIBE than the two guys that Viper hiked into awhile back up in the high Chisos if I recall correctly.  "We're just taking pictures of each other" was what they told him - yea, right, me and all my friends always strip down and take pictures of each other while hiking
Muse and I said that if we came across that we'd whip out our Jr. Ranger Badges and make them report to the superintendent.... :P

It is neat...just don't see how it can make much money.
Who's going to want a "potential" return on investment in a few years?

Shane-
You post some obscure things on this page (and I love it)...but that might be up there as a top 10...Vince

What really amazes me is that I post this obscure "stuff" - this one was a classic one - couldn't have made it up if I tried, but then we get two pages of replies to it and hundreds of people that have looked at it.   :P

Did you see that there is no licensee in the entire island of Cuba? Can you imagine the profit potential there? That is probably a totally ice-starved nation. Just think, you could begin a trade thaw with an ice machine!

This is funny.  Too bad she doesn't know about this webpage....

Quote
So I'm leaving tomorrow morning for Big Bend National Park, which is about eight hours southwest of Austin. We are filming the movie "Little Dove" there. While I am way excited for my first starring role in a (non-student) film, I am apprehensive for a couple of reasons.

First of all, did I mention that we (the entire cast and crew) are CAMPING? Apparently we will be an hour away from the nearest town, and it wouldn't be prudent to get hotel rooms.

Secondly, the set is an hour hike away from the camp site.

Thirdly, there may or may not be showers available. I may or may not have my own tent. There may or may not be cell phone coverage. And I highly doubt I'll have wireless Internet or even electricity.

Um. Do y'all know me? It's true that I consider myself "country", but my idea of camping is pulling up to a camp site, pitching the tent, and burning logs that I bought from the Walmart.

My idea of hiking is wearing new shoes to the mall for an all day shopping trip. I don't even know what to pack. So far, I have packed an air mattress, a pump, pink sweat pants, and my camera. For the trip I bought a gray thermal shirt and a teal sleeping bag.

I am FREAKING out! I just read the following on the Big Bend website:

"The largest spider found in Big Bend National Park is the Tarantula. Males are often seen crossing the roads in early fall searching for a mate."

I will DIE if I see a friggin' tarantula! For real. So if y'all don't see a post from me by Tuesday, just know that I saw a tarantula and I died of fright. Geez. Wish me luck, y'all.

........WTF :?:  :?:

Wait a minute...What's so funny about a bunch of hapless know-nothing city kids driving out to the wilds of big bend to shoot a dubiously no-budget film that's going nowhere fast--all the while witching about 'where's the showers'?....

...Oh, wait. I'm doing pretty much the same thing.  You're right. It is asinine.....

But then again, at least I know what i'm getting into...these poor kids don't have a chance....Should we all just call this the 'Bend Witch Project' now and get it over with? 'Location is an hour hike from camp'...are they kidding? That's rough even for seasoned veterans to pull off.....

I'm just waiting for the blog AFTER this little trip... It should be raucously hilarious....

Yeah it was me that came across the Brokeback Mtn photoshoot in Juniper Canyon.  I was hiking up canyon above Upper Juniper Springs but below the stone steps that go into Lower Boot Canyon, rounded a bend and saw a stark-naked 20-something guy standing in the middle of the trail while his buddy took photo's of him.  They didn't see me even though I was only about 50 feet away and I wasn't sure what to do - keep going?  backtrack?  throw rocks?   I backed up about 10 steps and said "Hi" and they freaked out and the guy put his clothes back on and told me to "come on through now".   I stopped and talked to them briefly - they were 2 college kids hiking the OML and were taking photo's for their school's "naked in nature" website.  Or so they said.  One of the guys was wearing a "Ben and Jerry's" biking outfit so I wonder about them.  Seemed nice enough though and didn't try to mess with me... Nude backpacking, that sounds like another story from Okihiker

Would have loved to walk up on their campsite though. Teal sleeping bags, high heel shoes, and wood from Walmart, she did say she was a country girl, Dominion west of San Antonio, thats country!!!!

Maybe Muse was able to visit site and send some photos.  8)
