Looks like Mom probably ought to soon be out of the rehab hospital and go somewhere for a few more weeks of rehab, but the doctor doesn't think an "acute rehab" facility (like St David's) would take her, ironically, because she's doing too well.  Don't bother asking me to explain that.  Two weeks ago she wasn't eligible for acute rehab because she was too weak, now she's too strong?  Real life was weird enough for me before I entered the world of hospitals/rehab/Medicare.

I do not think she will be able to go straight home.  She can only walk 60-80 feet, with a walker, though that may improve substantially.

Anyone have any recs for nursing homes with rehab in Austin?

Sorry I ahve not read the board in a few weeks.  If you still need help send me an email @ christopher.c.jacob@gmail.com  My sister has work as a social worker in nursing homes for 6 years here in Austin and would be glad to help you.
