I was thinking maybe we should spend a lot of money(money we don't need for anythng else) and go there and try to make friends with the moon people.

Just for grins, I took a couple of quick handheld shots with my Sony DSC-P72 on maximum zoom (a whopping 3x optical) using the "night mode" and the auto setting (with flash, cuz I forgot to turn it off :oops: ). Maybe equipment is a factor after all. :?

Oops, bdann. I forgot to tell you that I think your moon shots are terrific(the 2 high res shots). Would you say that the moon was in a
waxing gibbous phase
for that first image you posted?

Indeed, waxing gibbous, 86% visible, or something like that. On the second, it was actually still waxing gibbous, but something like 98% visible, so it looks full. Today it's full.
