Hey homerboy2u2 - just out of curosity, where "basically" are you, - South of the border is a big place, just like the NW corner that Bobcat was referring to.  Nothing specific mind you...  Just curious to see where people hale from.   8)

I answered my own question -  Piedras Negras?  You have some really cool photos there.  I need to hurry up and marry a rich girl or win the lottery so that I can just take off and explore the Texas - Mexico border - maybe do a TV show documentary on "Adventures in the Bend".  Kinda like Michael Paylen (sp) and his traverses around the world.  

I like looking at other peoples pics.  See how they travel, how they setup camp, what do they bring, etc.  Also, it's very interesting to see what people take pictures of and how they "frame" the pic.  If you go on a trip with other people who take tons of photos, it's neat to see how people "frame" the shot of the same thing.  My thing is I like to "document" trips - from the stand point of what did we pay for gas, where did we eat, what did we eat, - what did we drink - scotch, tequilia, etc.  If I see something neat, I'll pull off the interstate, highway, what-ever-way and snap a pic.  Always - always - always have the camera at the ready in the vehicle or around your neck.

I probably ought to just open another topic header, I'll let the moderator do that....  homerboy2u2 - you have really piqued my curosity and opened up some new vistas - hadn't really ever thought about "viewing the Bend" from the South of the Border - (I'm guess I'm North of the Border  :lol: )  When you go the Bend area - do you travel exclusively in Mexico or do you cross over into the US and drive in that way?  How long does it take to get from Piedras Negras over to the Bend region on the Mexican side of the border - is it relatively "safe" - yea, some of us gringos have visions of banditos behind every cactus.   :lol:  Are the roads "decent"?  I'm just full of questions tonight?  Have you ever driven over to Santa Elana, Boquillias, etc.?  What about to La Linda?  Now that sounds like an adventure.  I don't have a Mexcio highway map, the Roads of Mexico, I guess I need to go buy one tonight and stimulate the economy a little bit, and can't really tell from Mapquest how you would get from Piedras Negras?

It has been a long time , since i uploaded an interesting trip thread. This was a very revealing trip for we got the opportunity to find out what were the socalled  " Sky Islands" .  Never before had we had the opportunity to see this, let alone knew that they were there at all.

Hi everybody. This is the latest trip to El Coahuilon over here in Mexico.

  For the first time with me, I got to see some spectaular views of the Sierra de Arteaga in the state of Coahuila, which most of you know is majorly a desert. Much like the beautiful terrain in Big Bend, so to see this mountain vistas with gigantic Pines and Cedars definetly has to be eye catching for every one.
