sounds like a good trip so far...

my brother and I should be in the park sometime Feb 27th thru March 3rd or 4th, maybe we'll see ya there.   We're heading to GUMO Sunday Feb 25th, should make it down to Big Bend by Tuesday afternoon.  Haven't really gotten our plans nailed down yet, we'll probably backpack two or three nights, then just spend the rest of the time at a roadside backcountry site and day hike.

before GUMO, we're going to Vegas.  8)

When you are over in the Santa Elena/Old Maverick Road area the hike over to Bruja Canyon is quite easy (from Terlingua Abaja) and an absolutely amazing ending where the slot comes out to the desert.  Those who enjoy a little scrambling can make their way up to one of the largest tinajas in the park.

Have a great time!

APPROVED BY SHANEA[/size][/b]

You will need to carry this with you at all times while in the park in case you are accosted by any Jr. Park Rangers. :P   Any deviations in the plan are automatically approved.

My buddy BigBendHiker will be able to give you some outstanding suggestions on where to eat when in the Del Rio area.

Cool!  I would think it would have been a nice place to have grown up at.  Got a good friend whose son is stationed at Laughlin AFB.  Every time he heads out there to visit his son I tell him I am jealous.  Whenever you get close to the trans-Pecos, that is the promised land in my book.

We spend the night in Acuna at the Best Western when outbound and have our requisite dinner at Ma Crosby's, of course.

Sounds like you have a great trip planned.  Looking forward to the pictures and trip report.

It was I have been up and down the Devils river, Pecos river.  I went to school with a lot of large land owners and been to many cool places in that whole area.
