Randell

I was thinking like if you were on a rocketship or spacecraft and it landed on a comet and then like the comet collided with the earth(say in BBNP) you would bounce and prolly survive and you might bounce all the way up to GUMO and then you could do a solo there if you felt up to it!

That outfit's not going to keep your sandwiches warm ....

I don't know about that. Might depend on where you stick them

Now where was that redneck photo of a guy warming a sandwich in his armpit????

I'm sorry...that down mask has got to be the creepiest piece of cold weather outerwear that I have ever seen!!    Dogs and children would run away screaming if they saw someone wearing that thing. Still, if I was regulalrly out in below zero weather, I might be tempted.

BE sure and check out the down masks.

Good Lord, I got claustrophobic just looking at that thing.  I can't imagine being able to breathe while wearing that.  I think I'd need a snorkel.

If Randell stuck to his original plan (and if the roads are clear), they should be camped out at the peak campsite right now.

All you need is a good tent, a good pad and a good bag.  You can stay snuggy warm.  However . . . if you don't have the above . . . you will be COLD!  Staying warm while hiking is not a problem, in my experience.

No word from Randell, I'm sure he's on the summit by now!  If Google Earth only had real time sat image capability we could "zoom in" and see him from 300 miles in space.

Randell is alive and well

Just got off the phone with him.  He is at the airport in El Paso.  I'll save all the details/trip report for him so I don't spoil anything.

No time for much now but a few pics.  Just got home a little while ago and I have to get to bed.

We had a great trip.  It can snow a lot in GUMO.  Ice storms rock!  Hiking uphill in 6-12 inches of snow is VERY hard work.  Sleeping in 60mph winds is not easy.

My headgear didn't get too serious, but I did use my ski googles to keep the snow/wind out of my eyes:

Above 8,000 feet:

Lots more pics to come...
