My back patio, just before 7 this morning:

First time I've seen footlong icicles at this latitude (and altitude).

I was out @ 6am today.  I live down town Austin and it normaly takes 10-12 min to the airpot.  My wifes limo driver put his car in a ditch and could not make it.  So we ventured out, took 25 min to get to the airport.  The cars had 1/4 of ice on them.  I love my ice scraper I bought in Michigan last year.

Around noon we had some of the biggest clumps of snow falling that I've ever seen (of course, my snow experience is rather limited).

Nice to have a little winter fun in Austin. My neighbors and I just got back from a nearby middle school, where we were riding the barrow part of a battered wheelbarrow down a steep, icy hill while it alternately snowed and sleeted on us.

Beats being at work.

One of the rare downsides of working where one lives is that even on a day like this one one is at work!  Huge snowflakes out here in Spicewood, also.  I don't think we've gotten as much as Austin.  Had a little bit of sleet and now the snow.

Hey, Blaylock, I figgered you'd be down at the Capitol this a.m. for the festivities.  How're things up north there?

I see a puddle of water..yes, water...in the driveway, with occasional pings on its surface.  My icicles are dripping, too.

No, it would be nice.  She has a driver that picks her up at the airport, and takes her to the Airport each week.  She has t been a road warrior for the last 8 years.  SHe is a pro when it comes to traveling.  We went on a two week honeymoon in carry on luggage only.

For Big Bend its a 2001 Range Rover 4.6 SE.

Nah, I was already passing on this one before the weather set in. I've been to an inaugural (presidential) and done the whole thing. Could go my whole life without another one and be just fine.

Sleeting here right now. Looks like another morning at home before making a decision to go to work around noon ... or not.

I found out that my girl's (4 & 6) coleman sleeping bags are indeed rated correctly...we laid down on the balcony for 30 minutes or so in the bags and had a wonderful time at 26 degrees this afternoon (the bags were rated for 30)

i  suppose the neighborsw think that's weird.....who cares????????/

Well, TW, what your neighbors think must be mild compared to what the rest of the country thinks about us being immobilized for three days.  You were doing scientific research.....  ;)

Couple more photos of the ice:

Yes, I'm still home from work. It's 33 and stuff is starting to melt (starting with my sidewalks and driveway).
